" I approached RLL Boats early in 2005 to build a 60ft Steel Barge type craft to my own radical design. Having been flatly refused from other Boat Builders I found Rod Boyce's open mind and willingness to discuss the design very welcome. The craft 'Solaris' was a Catamaran configuration to be powered by electric motors with around 3.5 tonnes of batteries charged with an array of solar panels capable of supplying more than 10kw per day and a supplymentary diesal generator."

" After meeting with Rod Boyce a Contract was signed for a Sailaway version to be completed by myself. Work started on construction in January 2006 immediately after the Christmas break. Work progressed well and all the steelwork was completed on time and she stood out in the yard resplendent in fresh black & green paint awaiting the 100ton crane required to lift her into the waters of the River Avon."
